Adam Zemyan

1924 ~ 2018 (age 93)

Zemyan, Adam, 93, Johnstown, passed away September 21, 2018 at Amber Springs at Laurel Wood Care Center. Born in South Fork, Pa. Son of the late, Helen (Popovnak) and John Zemyan. Preceded in death by stepfather, John Legeza: brother, John & his wife Mary (Cafarelli); brother, Paul; sister, Pauline (Firm) & her husband Ray; step-brothers, George, Alex, and step-sister, Mary (Legeza) Bizjak. Survived by loving wife of 71 years, Mary (Niemritz) Zemyan; sister-in-law, Garnet (Burfield); son, Nicholas & his wife Mary Beth (Wursta) Zemyan; daughter, Dr. Mary & her husband Dr. Joseph Polito; son, James and his fiancé Debra Milchak; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Adam graduated from JHS & the US Navy mechanic school. He was a proud WWII veteran who served on the destroyer, The USS Bryant. Adam participated in intense action during his service in the Pacific. He was a retired welder from Bethlehem Steel Co. and a life-long member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. He enjoyed working in his garden and grew the best tomatoes. At the request of the family, viewing and service will be Private with Fr. Jim Davidson. Arrangements entrusted to Moskal & Kennedy Colonial Funeral Home, 219 Ohio St. Johnstown. Committal at Grandview Cemetery with military graveside rites by Windber VFW.
